Race Pack Pick Up
All competitors are encouraged to pick up their Race Pack on Friday 3rd June between 3.30pm and 6.30pm at The J, 60 Noosa Drive, Noosa Junction.
Included in your Race Pack is;
- Craft Number Sticker – this should be placed on the front, right hand side of your craft.
- Event Paddle Shirt and Cap (thanks to Shaw and Partners). Whilst our team will do their best to accommodate your size requirement, the earlier you pick up your pack the more likely we will have your size.
- Event partner offers
Drop in and check out the products on display and for sale from the sponsors and catch up with fellow competitors.
Competitors that are unable to collect their packs on Friday may do so on Saturday morning prior to race start at Mooloolaba.
Race Day Check In
Race Start and Check In is at the Mooloolaba Spit, the most eastern point of Parkyn Parade Mooloolaba.
All competitors must Check In at the race start on Saturday morning between 7.30am and 9.00am at the Mooloolaba Spit. Paddlers must bring with them to Check In for inspection the following items;
• 1 litre of fluids
• Mobile phone in water proof pouch with SafeTRX App installed and
• Leg leash.
Once these items have been confirmed each competitor will receive their timing chip. Double skis must have at least a lifejacket for each paddler, one leg leash and one mobile phone with SafeTRX.
Ensure that your Timing Chip is securely fastened to your ankle only.
Parking and Craft Drop Off
Parking is available on Parkyn Parade as well as the nearby car parks along Parkyn Parade or Mooloolaba Wharf.
To assist with your craft, we will have a “Drop and Go” facility available. Pull up outside the main entry to the venue and our team will carry your craft down on to the beach for you whilst you park your vehicle.
Competitors may have their gear bags transported from Mooloolaba Spit to the finish at Noosa Main Beach if required. Bags can be dropped at the Race Check In however a limit of 1 bag per paddler applies.
Please make sure that your bag is clearly identifiable, whilst all care will be taken, we are cannot take responsibility for your property.
It is compulsory for al competitors to attend the pre-race briefing which will be held on the beach at 9.15am to receive the final race and safety instructions.
Start Format *
Race start is 9.30am for all single skis and 9.35am for double skis. The deep water start line will be an imaginary line between a buoy and a flag on the river mouth rock wall. Any paddlers that break the start line may receive a 5-minute penalty.
For your safety, enjoyment and fairness to all competitors it is important that you “self-seed” your starting position relative to your ability and expected finish time. The front row of the “grid” should only be for the elite and very competitive paddlers with slower paddlers positioned towards the rear of the field.

Withdrawals and Requests for Assistance
If for any reason it is necessary for you to withdraw from the event at any time after you have check-in please ensure that you notify Race Control via mobile your mobile phone. Similarly any urgent calls for assistance or emergencies should contact Race Control via mobile phone.
Competitors that need to withdraw should make their way to the closest patrolled beach where they can be collected by their support parties.

SafeTrx GPS Tracking
It is compulsory that all competitors activate the SafeTrx GPS tracking app prior to race start.

Paddler safety is paramount to the event, without the SafeTrx app running the Water Safety team may not be able to provide assistance promptly without a precise location, should it be required.
From 9.00am on Saturday 4th June spectators and supporters can follow the race on the website https://flotilla.safetrxapp.com/events/op/hellsgates2022
Support boats and jet skis are permitted in the Shaw and Partners Hells Gates 38 however they must not provide any assistance prior to their competitor passing Old Woman Island at approximately 8km into the course.
Assistance is limited to passing hydration or nutrition to their paddler, any other form of assistance may result in disqualification.
When providing assistance, the support craft must be in neutral.
The finish line for the Shaw and Partners Hells Gates 38 will be located approximately half way along Noosa Main Beach between the Surf Club and Noosa West Tower. Once competitors reach the Boiling Pot, about 800m from the beach, the finish line will be clearly visible with flags and finish arch.
Our team will collect your craft at the waters edge and place it further up the beach whilst you cross the finish line. A timing mat at the finish line will record your finish time and identify your placing.
The best option for parking is on the Noosa Spit. Head west along Hastings Street towards the Noosa Woods where there are multiple (free) car parking options.
Thanks to the support from Heads of Noosa enjoy a refreshing and hydrating Hop Valley H20 at the finish before easing in to some of their beers later in the afternoon!
Multisport Australia, Australia’s leading event timing and results experts, will be publishing the race results in real time providing competitors and supporters with finish times and placings as soon as paddlers cross the finish line.
